After many requests by my husband I decided Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, was the perfect time to appease his appetite for a Handwoven Tallit, prayer shawl.
It took some time to come to terms about what his idea and my idea of this creation would look like. We agreed on wool as the traditional fibre however, his vision was much more blanket than traditional. He explained that he loves the coziness and soft squish of my woven blankets and was looking for a unique but not too far out piece using an off-white/cream rather than a traditional bleached white.
So I set my heart to fill the intentions he desired and after much planning I was able to accomplish this true labor of love in *almost a single day.
Gifted with his love of cooking, he cooked for Shabbat and Rosh Hashanah while I wove his new cloth.
After which he braided on the Tzitit, prayer fringes.
On Rosh Hashanah, his Tefillah, prayer was elevated. As he wore his new garment, a Rosh Hashanah tradition, with love, pride, and a deeper love of both the Mitzvah and his wife.
