Look no further, this workshop will get you started and on the path to reach that dream with your own handcrafted yarn. Spinning is a slow craft that requires a bit of patience and technique.
 
Monday's February 3, 10, and 17, from 9-11am at the TASUE studio in Neve Daniel.
 
In three two-hour sessions this course will teach you the basic techniques of yarn creation and send you home with your own handcrafted skein of yarn.
 
Session 1 begins with practice fiber, a drop spindle, and an introduction to cotton, wool, and silk fibers through a sensory experience.
 
Session 2, participants will choose a hand-carded fiber bundle from a selection handmade by TASUE. After an overview of the mechanics and set up of the Electric Eel Nano spindle, students will use their hand-carded fiber to get the feel of spinning and then progress to spinning their own single ply of yarn. 
 
Session 3, we will wrap up spinning the first ply of the fiber and move on to creating a second ply for a stronger and thicker finished yarn.
 
Participants will leave the workshop understanding the steps of yarn creation, use of a hand and electric spindle, and with their own handcrafted skein of yarn.

*Use of an EEW nano electric spindle and drop spindle in the workshop as well as 1oz of hand-carded fiber, to take home, is included in the course price.
 
Students who wish to purchase their EEW nano spindle, a drop spindle, or additional fibres are welcome to do so at the conclusion of the workshop or series.
